Shimano SPD-SL Road Cleats Description:
Shimano SPD-SL Road Cycling Cleat Set. For use with Shimano SPD-SL compatible pedals and available in 3 versions. Red/SM-SH10 is zero float or "fixed", Yellow/SM-SH11 is 6° float, and Blue/SM-SH12 is 2° of float. No matter what your riding needs, the Shimano SPD-SL road cycling cleats have a version for you. The SPD-SL road cycling cleats are compatible with 3-bolt road cycling shoes and weigh 72g per pair.
Features:
- Compatible with SPD-SL road pedals (nearly all Shimano road pedals)
- Three-hole SPD-SL cleat mount
- The front center pivoting, minimal float (+/- 1 degrees) cleat restricts toe movement and eliminates lateral play
- Includes two cleats along with mounting hardware
How To Choose SPD-SL Cleats:
- Yellow – 6° Float
- If this is your first pair of cleats, we recommend the 6° float cleat
- 6° float cleats are also great for athletes who experience knee pain or lack flexibility
- The 6° float cleat allows for more lateral movement which makes it easier to pedal in a natural manner
- While this cleat is recommended as a starting point for new cyclists, many experienced cyclists still opt to use the yellow cleat
- Red – 0° Float
- Great for sprinters, professional cyclists, and anyone looking for the most efficient power transfer possible
- Fully fixed position with no float
- Requires precise cleat position and fitting. We recommend seeing a professional bike fitter to help dial-in your position with these cleats
- Not a good choice for riders who are prone to knee pain
- Blue – 2° Float
- A compromise between yellow and red
- Provides a small range of movement while still delivering a high amount of pedaling efficiency
- Still requires an optimal cleat position
Pro Tip: Apply a little bit of threadlocker to each of the bolts to prevent cleats from coming loose.
